2018 Menghai V93 Premium Ripe Pu-erh (Tuocha)
2018 Menghai V93 Premium Ripe Pu-erh (Tuocha)
Flavor: Earthy, woody, bold yet smooth, dried fruit, chocolate bitter, mineral, full and thick, brews to a deep burgundy like red liquor. Expect a deeply rich flavor that may remind you of coffee. The hui gan (after-taste) is light and pleasantly lingers in the mouth, almost tastes like honey. It has a very interesting aroma - something like caramelized sugar.
V93 is great as a coffee replacement in the mornings. It is somewhat reminiscent of an Americano. People who like a nice milky English Breakfast tea might also enjoy it - it tastes lovely with milk/sweetener.
Harvest/processing: 2018, Menghai, Yunnan, China. 100 gram pressed tuocha.
This is a naturally fermented tea and if harvested and gets even better with age. The historic origin of pu-erh tea lies in the big six tea mountains in Xishuangbanna, Yunnan, China. Fog in these production forests on both sides of the Lancang River distributes the aroma for miles, creating the earthy sweet flavor that makes you want to drink a cup of aged pu-erh tea.
The 2018 Menghai V93 tea possesses many of the antioxidant qualities found in green tea, black tea and oolong tea. It can be infused several times while maintaining its rich woody flavor. The local people prepare this tea by boiling it, which reduces the earthy character while highlighting its lightly sweet date flavor and full-bodied taste.
The tea liquor color, flavor and aftertaste are reflected from the pu-erh tea’s long history, its growing environment and the people who produce this tea. One can almost taste the history, culture, weather and land of Menghai, Yunnan concentrated in this pu-erh tea.
